Will the Author Starve????

Ebook Giveaway results so far Okay, 2 days into the 3 day ebook giveaway, and I have only had 21 downloads. Not impressive so far, and I doubt very much if that even makes the needle bounce on Amazon algorithms! Hopefully some of the giant crowd of people who downloaded the ebook will actually provide Amazon with a review. At least that would be helpful!

The Amazon eBook Experience I did quite a bit of research prior to publishing this first novel. Since my marketing budget is basically zero, I figured I would have to do all of the editing and set up on my own. There are countless programs out there to do this, but the easiest way for me was to do it all directly on the Kindle Direct Publishing site. I was able to download all of the necessary templates and apply them to my word document fairly easily. Keep in mind, I am not a computer whiz. This process should be very simple for the less than average computer user. Now that the book  has been set loose on the world, my problem is getting it noticed. I have put the book up for free for a few days to try to get some reviews. Not as easy to get people to download for free as I thought! I figured I could get a few hundred fairly easily. I have just finished and self published my first book! Now, to see if this potential author starves. Yes, I have a real job and writing is a sideline for me, but I wanted to share the journey with the world. If I can help other aspiring writers out there avoid some of the pitfalls I encountered, or just motivate someone to set their writing loose on the world, then I guess I have done some good. To begin, my book is set at a golf course, and is not just about golf. Most of my Beta readers are not even golfers, and they told me they couldn't wait to see what happened in the story next. Hopefully having Gofl in the title does not scare people away.
